In our logo there is the earth, the blue color in the earth present water that covered 70% of the earth and the green color present land that covered 30% of the earth. In our earth there is a lot of country. One of the country is Malaysia, in Malaysia it have many interesting places for people to visits. The main state that are very popular in Malaysia are Pahang, Johor, Pulau Pinang, Perlis, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Kedah, Perak, Putrajaya, Sabah, Sarawak, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Terengganu, and also Kelantan. Every state have their own characteristic that can attract tourist to come to visit Malaysia. The words “Travel 4 Life” in the logo means that all people can travel from one state to another state by use the transportations that have been prepared for the travel. The transportation that have been prepared such as car, airplane, ferry and bus. The transportation will make your travel easy and comfortable when you travel from one state to another state. JOHOR BAHRU
The Southern Gateway
Johor Bahru is at the southernmost part of West Malaysia is the State of Johor situated. It covers an area of 18,986sq km and Gunung Ledang is the highest mountain in Johor. The state capital of Johor is called Johor Bahru and the total population is about 2.7 million.
Early as the 16th Century, the Malacca Sultanate, Sultan Mahmud was also the ruler of Johor. Followed by the Dutch East India Company in 1784, which ended the Bugis domination of Johor. In 1885, Sultan Abu Bakar took over and thus was the one laying the foundation of making Johor into a prosper State. After that, the British came, but Johor remained a strong State even before its independence movement in 1946. Till today, Johor economy remains strong. Agriculture, manufacturing, commerce and tourism are the main core of economic activity.
Just like Kuala Lumpur, Johor is a place where you can do a lot of shopping and is also one of Singaporeans’ favorites past time. The shopping malls in Johor offer many retails and varieties of branded goods. Entertainment is at its best, with the great nightlife and clubbing spots available almost in every corner. And of course, the street stalls and hawker centres are always populated with endless locals gourmet and prices are always reasonable.
Endau Rompin Park
Guarded and well protected, the Endau Rompin National Park is proclaimed as the second national park of Malaysia. Covering a vast area of about 50,000 hectares of land at the northern part Johor next to the state of Pahang, the National State Park One. This park is home to many species of birds, insects and wild animals. There are also diversity of plants and trees to be found here such as indigenous fan palm (Livistona Endauensis). Besides the 248 million years old rock formation and the legendary waterfalls are also something you shouldn’t miss. You can also do some rewarding trekking but you will have to apply for a permit at the District Office Kuala Rompin.
Gunung Ledang
Gunung Ledang, formerly known as Mount Ophir is the highest mountain in Johor. Its height is about 1,267m and is also a favourite spot for the localsans tourists. The mountain is believed to be the home of the legendary Princess “Puteri Gunung Ledang”. The Sagil Waterfall at the base of the mountain is the best spot for picnic. If you are thinking of trekking up, this will take about five hours. To get here by driving, you will have to drive towards Tangkak in Muar of Johor. The entry point is along the way of Tangkak, near to Sagil at Segamat trunk road.
Kota Tinggi Waterfall
A favourite get away for the locals, the Kota Tinggi waterfalls stand at a height of about 34m tall. The cascading water flows through a series of pools which is perfect for a refreshing dip. The waterfalls originates from the 624m high Gunung Muntahak needs about 3 hours to trek up. Chalets, camping sites, public changing rooms and a restaurant are also available here.
Desaru – Land of Casuarinas
Due to its strategic location, it is easily accessibly by ferry from Singpore for just an hour and a half. The peaceful beaches stretch across of about 25km is filled with white sand and casuarinas trees. Today, Desaru is still as favorable to many. Tanjung Piai National Park

Kukup
Kukup Laut at the tip of Pontian is another place famous for its seafood. The interesting thing about this place is that the fishing village has all the houses built on stilts and are connected to each other on wooden planks. Dinning in the restaurants here while enjoying the breeze form the sea is quite an enjoyment especially the freshness of the seafood is cooked into local delicacy style.
Grand Palace and Royal Sultan Abu Bakar Museum
The former palace built in 1866 during the reign of Sultan Abu Bakar is now the royal museum that houses the crown jewels, historical artifacts and other priceless treasures of the royal family. The exterior design of the Palace is also part of the Sultan’s ideas.
Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque
Considered to be one of the most beautiful mosques in Malaysia, the Sultan Abu Bakar mosque is built around 1895 and can accommodate up to 2,000 worshippers at one time. The mosque is situated on top of a hill overlooking the Straits of Johor near the Grand Palace.
Dataran Bandaraya
The clock tower square was built for the significant of Johor Bahru as a city on 1st January 1994. City Square another name for its has since been the place for evens and cultural performance.
State Secretariat Building (Sultan Ibrahim Building)
Built in 1942, this massive building on Bukit Timbalan dominates the skylines of Johor Bahru. The building has a combination of European and Anglo-Malay style. During the World War II, it was used as a fortress and a command centre by the Japanese Imperial Army to launch their final onslaught to conquer Malaya. Today, it houses the state secretarial as was other departments of the State Government.
Danga bay
Not far from the Johor – Singapore Causeway the new Danga Bay is Johor newest attraction. A waterfront built for everyone especially the tourists who do not wish to travel too far from the state itself. You are expected to find the Promenade a mail and a park for activities from shopping to entertainment to water sports. it is great place for the family especially a stroll after dinner.
Shopping and Entertainment
Johor is like Kuala Lumpur, a place full of shopping and entertainment. Especially for supper, you will often see crowds of people all over the place at Taman Sentosa, Kong Kong and Kukup, which are famous places for seafood and local cuisine. Shopping malls like City Square and Plaza Pelangi are easily accessible and offer a varieties of retails shops, branded goods and cinemas for entertainment. Recently, I’ve found Carrefour being one of the popular places for supermarket.
SARAWAK
Land of the Hornbills
Sarawak is the largest State in the world of Malaysia, situated northwest of the Borneo Island. It has an area of about 124,449sq km. Making up of 27 ethnic groups with a population of 2 millions, Sarawak is said to be existed at least 40,000 years ago. Even though the very first people saw on the island were difficult to tell due to its strategic location towards the South China Sea, but records has shown that the Indian and Chinese empires it and maybe the Roman and Indo-Javanese too have a part in this mysterious exotic Sarawak.
As early as in the 14th century, Franciscan Friar Odoric of Pordenone was the very first European who had found the Borneo Island on his way from India to China in 1330. By then, Muslims were the rulers and during the 16th Century, Malay Sultanate of Brunei was controlling most the island. Not forgetting the White rajas that came and settled during the 19th century especially James Brooke who had made the first mark in history of this Island until Japanese invasion in World War II.
Today, visitors are fortune to have such an attraction for visiting Greeted with the world’s richest and most eco-system, visitors can never miss the world largest flower - Rafflesia. The different cultures of the ethnic groups, each having their very own Mother Tongue, are still existing today. Especially the Iban, which is the most famous among the ethnic groups of Sarawak is known for their head-hunters history.
Gunung Mulu National Park
To really combing through this Sarawak largest national park will take at least 3 to 4 days depending on you. Here, you can visit the world’s largest cave passage and the world’s largest natural rock chamber in the Mulu Caves. The limestone pinnacles formation here are believed to be existed since 1.65 million years ago during the Ice Age. Another attraction within the park is Mount Mulu. At the summit, you can catch a spectacular view of the surrounding. It is definitely worth the time to come here. There are several ways to come here, you can fly to Miri and from Miri another 15 minutes flights to Marudi or take an express boat from Kuala Baram near Miri Airport to Marudi, you need to take a boat to Kuala Apoh or Long Panai on the Tutoh River and it take about another 3 hours. Make sure you reach here by noon otherwise you will have to wait till the next day.
Niah National Park/ Caves
Another exquisite park to visit in Bahagian Miri will be Niah National Park. The oldest human remains in the South-East Asia found in the Cave here are said to be 40,000 years ago. On the wall of impressive part of the trip is that you will get to see millions of bats and swiftlets flying out of the caves at dusk. The bird’s nests that the Chinese believed to bring strength to the lungs are found on the ceiling of the caves here. You might get to see some workers climbing up to reach the ceiling to collect the saliva of the swiftlets.
Lambir Hills National Park
If you are in Miri, you shouldn’t miss Park beside the Mulu National Park. It is only about half an hour drive to reach this world’s most ecologically diverse area. The 7,000 hectares of jungle will blow your mind up with more than 1,000 species of insects on each tree supported and not to say that only 52 hectares has been explored thus far. If you can get on the trail, don’t miss the 40m tall tree tower where you can have a clearer view of the place, especially for the birdwatchers. Try going up the longest and toughest trail to the top of Bukit Lambir where you will definitely greeted with panoramic view. And the waterfall within the vicinity is a must to visits.
Longhouse
Longhouses are a traditional living among the people of Sarawak. Normally along the river, you will need a boat to reach any one of them and you can find at least a community of family staying together. The easiest one to access is probably the Benuk Longhouse, which is just 50km from Kuching. There are about 80 Bidayuh families living here and they have a common hall that displays human skulls, which are collected from past headhunting era.
Kuching
The State Capital of Sarawak is Kuching. Kuching is a Malay word for cat. Perhaps the love of cats is why it is called. There is a Cat Museum worth visiting in the town centre where is known to be the world’s first Cat Museum. Besides, there are so many other things to see.
Bako National Park
Bako National Park is the smallest yet the most interesting national park in Sarawak. It contains almost every type vegetation found in Borneo. Covering an area of about 2742 hectares at the tip of the Muara Tebas peninsula, the national park offers different trails with guided colours along the trails giving you the ease and convenient to see the park at its best. The only way to visit the park is to arrive at Kampung Bako, not far from the capital and from here you have to hire a boat, which cost about RM30 for up to a maximum of 7 people to reach the headquarter of the park. The journey takes about 20 minutes and the best time to visit is during the month of April to September.
Cat Museum
This never to be missed if you are a cats’ lover. The museum offer seminars and international conferences here for cat lovers’ club from all over the world. The Cat Information Centre provides you with enough history and researches materials about cats. You also can take a walk in the galleries to view more than 2,000 cat artifacts and memorabilia from all over the world.
Sarawak Islamic Museum
Located at the foot of Kuching Mosque, the Islamic Museum was constructed in Maderasah Melayu design since 1930. You can find the rich historical heritage and culture of the Muslim community here and the influence of Islamic Civilization on this part of the world.
Sarawak Cultural Village and Heritage Centre
Many call this place “The Living Museum”. The Sarawak Cultural Village is located in Santubong, 40 minutes from Kuching City. You will get to see Sarawak’s ethnic groups with their handicraft displays and the cultural performance. It’s an interesting place to learn an=bout the people of Sarawak.
Sarawak Museum
Repute to be one of the best finest Museum in the region, Sarawak Museum should not be miss if you are there. It is just like visiting the whole Sarawak. It will gives you a better planning if you are intending to explore the State in your own way. The excavations at Niah Caves together with the exhibits of Borneo History art and ethnography are some of things you can learn about ime Sarawak.
Shopping and Entertainment
There are quite a lot of shopping and entertainments you can find in Sarawak especially in Kuching. Looking for Streets like Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Mendu, Jalan Padungan and Jalan Borneo where shopping malls like the Riverdside Shopping Complex is and you will also finds a number of pubs and discos. Eating out is another favourite past in Kuching, you can head down to top Spot Food Centre, Song Kheng Hai Hawker Centre, Hui Sing Hawker Centre, where you can find the varieties of the local cuisine.
SABAH
The Land Below the Wind
Sabah is the second largest state in the whole Malaysia, covering an area of about 76,000sq km, situated next to Sarawak on the most Southern-North part within the Borneo Island and the Celebes Sea in the East. Sabah is known for it Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in Southeast Asia and its crystal clear beaches and tropical islands for scuba diving.
Way before the World War II, Sabah and Sarawak were part of the Borneo Island under the rule of the Sultan of Brunei during the 15th century. In fact, as early as the 9th century, trading with the Imperial China was common.
Today, Sabah has a population of about 2.6 million and over 30 ethnic groups of 80 different local dialects. The largest among the ethnic groups is the Kadazandusun, occupying mostly on the West Coast has been an important role in farming for the State’s economy. Sabah is rich in exporting timber and it its mining industry. It is also the third most important petroleum and gas producer besides being an agricultural state.
Kinabatangan River
Apart from the Labuk bay Proboscis Sanctuary near Kampung Samawang in Sandakan, you can also head down towards nature at the Kinabatangan River near Sukau to see these pot-bellies monkeys with a long fat nose hanging from the face. Interestingly, these unique creatures are only found in Borneo. The best time to see them will be between the time from 4pm-6pm where the monkeys will return back to the tree branches from the river. Other than the monkeys, there are also elephants, Orang Utang, bearded boar and many other wild animals to be seen in the vicinity.
Kudat
One of the popular places in Sabah will be Kudat, a 3 hours drive from Kota Kinabalu. The people who live here are mostly Rungus, a sub-group of the Kazandusun group and are also well known for their beadworks. The best time to visit is probably in September when the people celebrating the coconut fest. Beside Tanjung Simpang Mengayau, which is a must to visit, you can also visit Kampung Gombizau for beeswax ad honey, Kampung Sumangkap for the making of gongs, a type of musical instrument, and needlework. Not forgetting, Kudat is also known fro their fresh seafood cook in local style.
Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary
This is the World’s Largest Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. You can come close to this creature and even to hug some of them. The 4,500 hectares of virgin forest was part of the centre for training these monkeys back to the wild.
Sabah Agricultural Park
In Tenom town of Bahagian Pedalaman, the Agricultural Park spreads across 1,500 acres of land. The park is officially opened to the public by Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohammad in 2001. There is the Hybrid Orchid Centre, which houses 1,500 identified species of orchids, the Bee Centre that houses 4 local bee species and the Evolution Park for various displays of the evolution eras.
Danum Valley
Tawau, this 438sq km area is said to be at least 60 million years old. Walking through it, you can get to see Asian elephants, the Sumatran Rhinoceros, gibbons, and other wild animals. There is also a range of hostels for visitors to stay over and the interesting suspension bridge for a great view over the place is about 40m high.
Kota Kinabalu
The town centre offer visitors a wide varieties of Shopping Malls and Entertainments. Tanjung Aru Beach is also another hangout place for supper and seafood. And for those who love yachting , there is a Sutera Harhour Resort nearby that provides water sports facilities and ferries to the nearby islands.
Atkinson Clock Tower
The Atkinson Tower was one of the buildings survived after the World War II. It was built in memorial of the first District Officer of Jesselton, Francis George Atkinson, died of malaria at the young age of 28. His mother, Mary Edith Atkinson of England built the Atkinson Clock Tower on Bukit Brace in 1905, in memory of her son. The clock tower is situated near the Gaya Street Sunday Market along Signal Hill Road.
Monsopiad Cultural Village
Known as the cowboys of the east, the Bajau people living in Kota Belud is one of the must visit place if you are looking for some cultural experiences. The Bajau women are well known for their weaving and needlework skills and the men for their horsemanship. You will also get to see the House of Skulls here.
Lingzhi Museum
Lingzhi, which is also known as the Ganoderma lucidum, is a type of mushroom said to be the elixir of long life and a cure for some of the illness. The museum displays a collection of fossil like giant specimens of wild Borneo Lingzhi and a processing plant too.
Mount Kinabalu
The best time come here is between March and April. Even though it takes sbout 2 to 3 days to conquer it depending on your physical fitness, the enjoyment and panoramic view is definitely worth it. Mount Kinabalu isd Southeast Asia’s highest peak. It is 4,095.02 metres tall cbove the sea level.
Kinabalu Park
Located within the Mountain, Kinabalu Park is a must to visit after a climb up the mountain. Together with Mount Kinabalu, Mount Tambayukon and the whole area covers about 754sq kilometers, bigger than Singapore. It probably has one of the richest flora collections in the world. Orchids are the most commonly flower seen here, with about 1,200 different species, which is one third of what the earth has. You can also visit the Poring Orchid Conversation Centre for more information. Next, the surroundings also offer some forest trails which you can also take a walk on the tree top canopy to see the beautiful forest and if you lucky you might see a Rafflesia or Pitcher Plants and rare species of butterflies and insects. Or you might want to visit the Butterfly farm. Last, but not least, the Poring Hot Spring is another worth visiting place to go. This is one of the best places in Malaysia for a hot spring bath.

Kadaiku
Kadaiku is located at the Tourist information Centre at the Seri Pelancongan Sabah Office in Kota kinabalu city. Here, you can find a wide range of handicrafts representing the different ethnic groups Sabah has.
Filipino Market
Probably of the State strategic position, the immigrants from Philippines are commonly seen here too. The market offers stuff not only from the Philippines but also from Indonesia. Best buys are the woodcarvings and woven basket.
PENANG
PULAU PINANG is the Malay name for Penang. Literally translated, Pulau Pinang “Island of the Betel Nut Tree” since the 16th century. It is also known as the “Pearl” of the orient”, “Gateway to the East”, and “Isle of Temples” by many.
Penang has a population of 1.2 million people, more than half of the population is populated with Chinese on the island, measuring a total of 285sq kilometers, situated entrance to the straits of Malacca. The island and mainland are linked by longest in the world, and 24-hour ferry service. The urban centre is known as Georgetown.
Today Penang has prospered into a popular holiday destination, bringing a rich culture and colourful history to many of its key attractions. Besides exploring the diverse cultural and historical attractions, the long stretches of white sandy beaches are what many have come to seek. The true “Makan” Paradise in the region and many tourists return yearly just to savor the sumptuous spread of local fare Penang has to offer.
Kek Lok Si Temple
Incorporating with Chinese, Thai and Burmese architectural styles into one, Kek Lok Si Temple which was constructed in 1893, is possibly one of the biggest, finest Buddhist temple in South East Asia. The temple also features gardens, a turtle pond shrines and beautiful sculptures. This is also one of Penang’s most popular attractions. If you are a Buddhist, this is a must visit place.
Snake Temple
This temple was built to remember the Buddhist priest, Chor Soo Kong who was known as a famous healer. The snake Temple was built in 1850. It takes some courage for one to step inside the temple, as snakes are free to coil around on the altar and the interior of the temple. It is believed that the visibly thick incense smoke keeps the snakes harmless. Visitors have nothing to fear, as the snakes have been envenomed to ensure safety.
Penang Bird Park
Just five minutes drive from the Penang Bridge, is the 2-hectare bird park. It houses more than 800 birds of 300 species from all over the world. Just imagine huge birds of prey, pelican, emu and ostriches, all housed in large aviaries surrounded by nature. Don’t forget to take some pictures of the beautifully landscapes of garden with waterfalls and ponds with lotus, water lilies and ducks.
Penang Hill
You can find Malaysia first hill station here. Penang Hill stands at 821 metres above sea level. To go up, you can access using a funicular train, which was first opened in 1923. The train operates in two sections and passengers change railcars at midpoint. It takes about half an hour to reach the summit and the train service operates at half hour intervals. You might want to be more adventurous if you are fit for the hike of about 6.7km/4.5 miles long, approximately 2 to 4 hours journey depending on your even of fitness. Be sure that you will be greeted with a panoramic view of Penang Island. Along the way, you can find some old bungalows, Bird Park and even a hotel, which make the walk a fruitful one. Don’t forget your camera there are mountain streams along the way up and even monkeys at a distance.
Beaches
The most actives and popular beaches in Penang are around Batu Ferringhi. You can enjoy facilities like water skiing, sailing, windsurfing, and water scooters. Even in the nights nightspots like bazaar and restaurants are often busily filled with people. If you need to get away to find yourself some peace, try the Pasir Panjang Beach at the southwestern tip of the island which is secluded. Not forgetting Batu Maung, a small fishing village where you find the famous shrine at the front of the beach. Admiral Cheong Ho who was featured prominently in the history of Malacca Sultanate is said to have his sacred footprint in front of the shrine. Many believed it brings good fortune to anyone who lights the joss sticks and places it in the urn. Try the seafood, it is said the be the best in the island.
Georgetown
Penang’s capital city which was named after the British King George III. walking down Love Lane, Pitt Street, King Street and Carnarvon Street bring you a deep sense of very Penang. Street like Chulia Street and Campbell Street are best viewed in the evening where you can taste and find Penang best food here. Going for Indian Cuisine? Try southern end of Penang Street where you can fine banana leaf rice restaurants and even a Hindu temple.
Komtar
If you like to have a panoramic view of the city besides going up the hill, the 65 storey’s of Penang’s most prominent landmark, KOMTAR offers a clear view even to some parts of Kedah can be seen on the 55th floor where it is opened to the public. Besides these, the complex also contains theaters, squash courts and a multi-purpose hall. And further to that you can also find department stores, shops and restaurants. State Mosque
After four years of construction, the state Mosque features modern architecture and can accommodate up to 5,000 worshippers for congregational prayers in Penang. Permission to enter is required from the State Religious Department, Lebuh Pantai. Visitors must dress appropriately and remove their shoes before entering.
Khoo Kongsi
A magnificent Chinese clan temple built in 1894. The two tall, figures of Sikh guards standing at the gate wearing turban on their heads have definitely made this temple a mystery. Perhaps this is why there are quite a number of Indians in Penang as compared to other states. Inside the building, intricate carvings and ornamented beams like those from the skillful hands of master craftsmen from China.
Penang Museum and Art Gellery
A piece of Penang’s history can be found in this museum through old photographs, maps and relics. Arriving at the museum, which was built in 1821, you can see Penang’s founder, Sir Francis Light’s statue, reminding one of the colonial days.
Fort Cornwallis
The fort’s location was where Sir Francis Light first landed in 1786. It was named after Charles Marquis Cornwallis, a Governor General of India, and designed to protect the harbor from possible French attacks. Today, the place has been converted into a public park and an open-air theater. You still can find all cannons, especially the one name Seri Rambai from 1613. Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque
Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque is well known as the Blue Mosque and is said to be one of the largest mosques in Southeast Asia that can accommodate up to 24,000 worshippers. The four minarates measuring 142.3 metres surrounding the blue and silver dome are the tallest in the world. Look carefully for the Arabic calligraphy decorated on the inner curve of the dome and on some part of the walls which made this Mosque a must visit place even if you are not into the religion.

Putra Mosque
With a panoramic view of the lake, the Putra Mosque is situated at the western shore next to Perdana Putra Complex and dataran Putra. It has a got a pink granite dome on it, a basement that has some similarity of the King Hassan Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco and the minaret with the design like the Sheikh Ormar Mosque in Bagdad. The Putra Mosque can also accommodates up to 15,000 people at one time. Appropriate dressing is a must before entering the Mosque. For women visitors, please put on a scaf.
Wetlands Park
Putrajaya Wetland Park is the largest man-made freshwater wetland in the regions and the only one in Malaysia too. It is purposely built to clear the water from pollutants and it also has efficient water controlling system that can prevent rainwater for over flowing which can cause erosion. You can find forests, ponds, lakes and many other fauna in the water and a good variety of birds in this natural, beautiful and Greenery Park. Get to the top of the Nature Interpretation Centre (NIC) tower, where you can have a better view of everything. NIC opens from 9am to 6pm daily but if you are thinking of an early morning walk, the park opens since 7am.
Putrajaya Convention Centre
Almost everything in Putrajaya is built to symbolize or represent something significant. Including the PCC has a combined structure of the wau bulan (moon kite), the pending Perak (silver royal belt buckle) and in the main halls, the “eye” of the pending Perak, making this architectural a distinctive one.
Dataran Putra
Dataran Putra represents great significant of symbolism of Malaysia. If you will to look carefully, you will see that it is divided into first, an 11-pointed star pattern that represents the 11 states of Malaysia during 1957 when Malaysia had it independence; the next inner 13-pointed star represents the 13 states which revealed the next chapter of Malaysia in 1963 followed by the 14-pointed star which is now representing all of Malaysia states and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya. Decorated with lights and water motifs, Dataran Putra is 300 metres in diameter and is one of the places that you would not want to miss to take a picture.
Cruise Tasik Putrajaya
Perhaps the best way to view the city is to take a cruise ride around the precincts. You can get to the jetty located at the Putra Bridge next to the Selera Putra Food Court in Precinct 1. They offer two types of ride, one is the passenger cruise, which is air conditioned and can seat up to 70 people. The other one is the traditional local Malay perahu, the Payang or Kolek that only takes up to a to 6 passengers.
Botanical Garden
Take a walk in this garden of about 92 hectares. The collections of about 700 species of local plants as well as from other parts of the world is said to be one of the biggest you can find in regions. There are also the Visitor Interpretative Centre (VIC), the explorer’s trail and gift shops in the vicinity. The Garden opens from 9am to 7pm daily. The VIC opens from 10am to 7pm daily except on Monday and requires an entrance fee of RM2 per person.

There is really not much shopping to be done in Putrajaya. The tourists normally come for the unique architectural buildings and bridges. They make great backgrounds for pictures too. Well if you are really looking for one to shop, I would recommend you Anjung in Precinct 1 where you can find retails and restaurants or alternately you might want to make a trip to “Souq” near Putra Mosque, a roll of shops that sells stuff like jewellery, pottery and fabrics. KUALA LUMPUR
Garden City of Lights
Located right in the centre of South East Asia is the capital of Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur. Residing in the state of Selangor, the city is about 243sq kilometers in area. With a population of over 1.3 million, Kuala Lumpur is by far the largest city in Malaysia.
KL in short, came about during 1857. It began when Raja Abdullah, a representative of the administrator at that time, came to Ampang and found tin, which was greatly demand by the Americans and the British Empires. After which the British moved their administration from Klang to Kuala Lumpur. In 1882, after Frank Swettenham became Residents of Selangor, he rebuilt the village as the place had been destroyed by civil wars. As the Federation of Malaya gained its independence in 1957, Kuala Lumpur was declared the Federal capital. On 1st February 1974, Kuala Lumpur was officially declared a Federal Territory. It also marked the end of Selangor’s jurisdiction over Kuala Lumpur.
From a mining settlement, Kuala Lumpur has grown to today’s reputed urban city, leading the nation’s development in trade and commerce, banking and finance and information technology. The metropolitan city of Kuala Lumpur offers the colours and excitements of urban life. Beating with energy and endless fun, KL, with is towering skyscrapers and commercial buildings, one can expect great shopping, dining and entertainments. Today, Arts are being strongly promoted in Kuala Lumpur too.
Petronas Twin Towers
In the heart of Kuala Lumpur stands the 88 storey Petronas Twin Towers at an astonishing height of 451.9 metres and is currently one of the world tallest buildings. The building, which was inspired by the five Pillars of Islam, is where the Petronas Philharmonic Hall located housing both the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Petronas Performing Arts Group. Sultan Abdul Samad Building
Built in 1897, the building originally housed important government departments during colonial times. Consisting a copper dome and a 40 meters tall clock tower, the building is now an important backdrop for events such as the National Day Parade. The Supreme Court and the Textile Museum are now situated in the building.
Jamek Masjid
This mosque that is situated along Jalan Tun Perak is one of the oldest mosques in the city since 1909. The three elegant domes that give the building a unique structure came from the inspiration of the Mogul mosque in the North India.
Dataran Merdeka
Dataran Merdeka or Merdeka Square, faces the Sultan Abdul Samad Building. When Malaysia declared its independence in 1957, the Malaysian flag was hoisted on its 100 metres high flag pole here. National Science Centre

Teluk Intan Leaning Tower
Remember the world-famous Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy, you can find one here in Perak too. The Teluk Intan Leaning Tower, a clock tower is built in 1885 by a Chinese, Leong Choon Choong. The pagoda like tower used as a covered water tank for the Teluk Intan residents, it was later then used by the Japanese as an observation tower during world war II and the later a Boy Scouts’ headquarters. Bukit Larut is Malaysian’s oldest and smallest hill resort located near Taiping Lake Garden. The road up could be quite dizzy and can be nausea, so do prepared some plastic bags. Lumut

Stretching over about 1.3km, the Tempurong Cave is said to be here since 8000 BC and is probably the largest nature limestone cave you can find in Malaysia. There are different formations of stalagmite and stalactive within the five huge coconut dome shape like caves. To get there, take an exit at the Gopeng interchange that is about 25km from Ipoh.
Birch Memorial Tower
Located a walking distance from the bus terminal, this fountain was made in memorial of the first British resident of Perak, J.W.W Birch and was presented to him by the Chinese community. It was told that in 1875, he was assassinated in Pasir Salak by the local Chiefs. There are also portraits and four decorative panels on the square tower, symbolize the growth of civilization in the state.
Kellie’s Castle
Castle? I thought you would only get to see castles in Europe. Well, we’ve got one here in Perak. It was built in 1915 by William Kellie Smith who was a rubber planter. He wishes to have a home in Perak similar of that in his hometown in England. Though the 30 minutes road driving towards it might be quite winding and mysterious, but the scenery on the way gives you a little romantic about the place. Not really like those of a fairy tales, but it was told to have many hidden rooms and secret underground tunnels within the castle.
Taiping Lake Garden
There are so many lakes and forests in Malaysia, but in Taiping this one is said to be one of the most beautiful lake gardens. Built is 1880, Taiping Lake garden was built in with a nature of lush greenery with a wide variety of different types of plants, flowers and trees attracting many different types of insects and birds. The huge lake that was said to be an old mine is now also surrounded with the nearby Taiping Zoo and golf course. To get here, exit at the Changkat Jering Intercharge while travelling on the North – South Expressway, take the Simpang route before turning into Taiping on the right. Drive along Jalan Istana and Jalan Kelab Baru where the garden is located.

PAHANG
Adventure Off The Beaten Track
Pahang is Malaysia largest state in West Malaysia that covers an area of about 36,000sq kilometers, almost two thirds of it is filled with mountains, rain forest, caves and beaches and especially the famous Taman Negara. Lake Chini
Within the vicinity of Pekan, about a 100km from Kuantan, Lake Chini is Malaysia’s second largest natural Lake. Cameron Highlands

To get here from KL, you must get on to highway E1 towards Tapah, the gateway to reach Cameron Highland otherwise coaches are easily accessible too.
Genting Highlands
Slightly higher that Cameron Highlands is this popular destination, Genting Highlands. It has got a wide range of hotels, you can choose from and exciting rides at the Genting Theme Park. Beach in Kuantan
Beserah Beach
The Beserah Beach in Kuantan is a fishing village. You probably can smell the dried salted fish when you enter into one of the houses here. IT is the only place in Malaysia where buffaloes are used on the beaches to transport fishes from the fishing boats to the processing house. The village also houses a batik factory and many handicraft workshops, which produce others items from seashells and locals plants.

PERLIS
Little Northern Gem
On the northwestern tip of Peninsula Malaysia next to Thailand is Perlis, a “little northern Gem” of Malaysia and is also considers as the smallest state of the whole of Malaysia. On this 795sq kilometers piece of land dominated mostly by agriculture and the main product is rice. It has a population of over 200,00.
The history of Perlis was similar to that of Kedah, it is just that it was once under Kedah and Later become Federation of Malay in 1957. Kangar is the state capital while Arau is the Royal Town. This is also where the Royal Place and State Mosque are found.

Arau
Stopping at the last second station on train will bring you the royal town of Arau, 10km from Kangar. Most tourists who travel by train to reach Langkawi Islands will have to alight here and transfer to take a taxi to Kuala Perlis-jetty. In the town, you will spot an imposing Istana Arau, the Royal Palaces with a classic architecture and the Royal Mosque.
Kuala Perlis
Next to Penang Laksa is the famous seafood noodle soup. Perlis Laska. You can find Perlis Laksa in almost every hawker center especially in Kuala Perlis. There are also restaurants serving fresh seafood as the place is near the jetty where the fishermen live. Perlis Herb Gardens (Taman Herba)
The ethno botanical museum in this place offers you wind knowledge of more than 1000 species of herbal, spice and traditional Chinese herbal plants. Due to the different ethnic group living around the forest, more kinds of new plant are found that were used by these traditional communities since the past. The museum opens on every Tuesday to Sunday from 9am to 4.30pm.
Gua Kelam9Dark caves) Recreational Park
Walking through Gua Kelam can be an unforgettable site. The magnificent stalactite and stalagmite formation in the 370m long cave walk is said to be one of the most distinctive caves you can find in Malaysia. An Englishman enlarged the cave during 1935 to use it as a pathway to transport tin ore at that time. Today, the cave acts as a walkway for the opposite town in a much convenient way. You do not have to carry torchlight anymore as the place is well lighted up.
Padang Besar

Kangar
EPF Tower
This is one of the highest points of Kangar. It is the favourite spot for food lovers who relish the mount-watering typical Perlis cuisine available at the Malay restaurant near to the tower and food-stalls located throughout the oldest part of the town.
Gunung Medan
Another place for photo taking is to drive up to the peak of Gunung Medan, about 6km south of Kangar. You will have to walk up the stairways to reach the top. The view here is definitely promising, you can see a panoramic view of the paddy field, sugar cane plantation and even Langkawi Island.
Dato’ Wan Ahamad House
Travelling down the street name Dato’ Wan Ahamad, you can find his wooden house built in 1920. The wooden carving on the painted panels and a multi-gabled roof are a fine traditional Kedah- Perlis Malay house. It is very well kept and you don’t get to see another similar one round to the corner.

In Perlis, there is not much shopping to be done if you are looking for big shopping malls. Try taking a taxi to shop at the duty Free shop at Keranjang Emas, opens from 10am to 9am daily. The best things to buy here is still handcrafts stuff. A drop by at Padang Besar is another alternative. As for entertainments, you might want to find out from the hotel you stay in.
KELANTAN
Cradle of Malay Culture
Kelantan is known for its traditional Malay culture of craft and their well-preserved custom is still practicing today. Situated in the Northeastern part of Malaysia, comprising and area of 14,922 km of land, Kelantan has a population of about 1.5 million. Due to its historical background, you can find a mixture of Thai, Chinese, Indian and Malay being the most in the population.
Kelantan was claimed by some Chinese philosophy that it was existed since 3000 B.C. Long Yunus, a Kelantanese Prince whom today descendants make up the Royal house of Kelantan, had a strong influence on the culture of the people.

Kota Bharu
Kota Bharu is Kelantan’s State Capital and Royal town. Within the town, you will find interesting places like the Cultural Centre, Merdeka Square, Bamboo Fort Baazar and many more. There are also quite a number of museums to visit in this little town.
Merdeka Square
Merdeka Square was used to be known as Padang Kelupang. It was the site of many historical significant, especially Malaysia’s independence was declared here on 31 August 1957. You can also have a glance of State Government offices and raft houses along the riverbanks too.
Islamic Museum
Joining the historical zone, the Islamic Museum is also another places where you will find photographs of the belongings of Prophet Muhammad and some Islamic arts and crafts.
Cultural Centre
Located on Jalan Mahmud, the Cultural Centre or Gelanggang Seni showcases Kelantan’s traditional Malay culture and heritage. See the Wayang Kulit, puppet show where folktales are told by the shadow puppets, the demonstration of Silat, Malay self defence martial art, Wau the traditional handmade kites and the Gasing. The cultural centre is only opened 3 times a week from March to October each year.
Beaches in Kelantan
Pantai Cahaya Bulan
Previously known as Beach of Passionate Love, this beach is probably one of the most common pictures taken for postcards. The beach is lined with casurina and coconut trees, painting a sweet lazy picture of relaxation. Nearby, you can also visit some villages where Batik-painting, songket-weaving, brassware and kite making are produced.
Pantai Irama
Reputed to be of the most beautiful beaches among the rest. This beach has got good picnic spots as well as motels you can check in for a few nights to enjoy the place.

Bazzar Buluh Kabu
Early morning, you will see people crowded in this place bargaining for the best price they could get. The colourful display of products has brought many photographers many awards. The three storey building sell local products like batik, songket, silverware and imported Thai goods. They are all at very reasonable price.
TERENGGANU
Beach Land Paradise
Terengganu is considered as Peninsular of Malaysia most island State. Islands after island, beaches after beaches, no wonder Terengganu is one of the most popular destination in the world.
Terengganu is about 12,955 km with a population of about one million, mostly Malay. Formerly established as a state in 1724, Terengganu’s first ruler was Sultan Zainal Abidin, a former Johor Sultan’s brother. The state was also once a vassal of Siam and had undergone British colonization before gaining independence like the rest of Malaysia.
The main economic in Terengganu is the offshore oil in gas that was discovered in 1974. Besides, farming and fishing are still the revenue of the people of Terengganu today. And the island that attracts thousands of tourists every month is also one of the contributions to the riches of the State.
Kuala Kemaman
Head down to Cukai or Chukai to take a break for some famous seafood where at the jetty off Kuala Kemaman are often crowded with people and fishermen. Try to “otak-otak”, “satay”, and ‘ikan bakar’, they are yummy and some are spicy too. Beside the famous place, Rantau Abang where tourist get to watch turtles laying eggs, in Ma’ Daerah Turtle Sanctuary Center within the vicinity is also another new established hatchery centre.
Rantau Abang
Rantau Abang in Dungun of Terengganu is said to be one of the main nesting places for the giant leatherback turtles. Many tourist come here within the months of May to September every year to see these creatures laying eggs on the soft and white sandy beach. A visit to the nearby hatchery center is worth to find out more about the species. Please do not pick up any eggs or try to ride on one of turtles, the country is very cautions into protecting these creatures due to the declining in numbers since the past few years.
Tasik Kenyir
Tasik Kenyir or Kenyir Lake is considered as one of the largest man-made lakes in the world. It covers an area of 369 meters and contains 340 islands with more than 14 waterfalls, rapid, rivers and limestones caves. It is also one of the favorite spot for Angelic fishing. You can also capture many different types of animals like tiger, elephant, tapir, honey bear, deer, and monkeys. The best way to enjoy the place is to stay a few days at the lakeside resorts to enjoy activities like jungle trekking and bird watching. There is a direct bus from Hentian Putra in Kuala Lumpur or at Kuala Berang town, takes a taxi.
Sungai Ceralak Waterfalls
Perhaps the best place to visit in Kuala Dungun is the Sungai Ceralak Waterfalls. The waterfalls consists of 2 falls, one 12m high and another 24m. To make the trip more adventurous, take a boat ride from Kuala Jengai and follows by a hike with river crossing along the way.
Sekayu Recreational Forest
Another breathtaking waterfalls in Terengganu within Kuala Berang, the waterfall here has got seven levels of cascades. Within the vicinity, you can also visit the Zoo, Bird Park, Orchad and Garden. A place for the family for picnicking and there are also chalets available for staying over.
Beaches
Batu Buruk Beache
Perhaps the name came from the coarse sands of the beach. Activities like kite flying and strolling after a hearty meal is commonly seen along the beach. After that, if you have time, catch the famous Malay Art performance at The Cultural Centre on every Friday and Saturday from 5 pm to 7 pm and 9 pm to 10 pm. You can also take a boat ride around the place for just RM5.
Marang Beach- Squid Fishing
Marang Beach not only serves as a destination for many tourist to arrive here for it picturesque background but also an adventure points for evening squids fishing. Especially within the harvesting months from April to June, you will see fishermen lowering down their fluorescent lamps near the water to attract these curious creatures. Other than these, you can also take a boat ride down the river and stop at Jenang traditional village to see them making and weaving ‘attap’ roofs using coconut tree leaves.
Tanjung Jara- Surfing & Sailing
Due to the location of the facing of the beach, Tanjung Jara is one of the best places for surfing and sailing. The powerful waves and the long wide stretches of golden sandy beach attract both the tourists and locals for anything under the sun. You can even go into the deep for fishing but with a permit. You can also boat to the nearby island, Pulau Tenggol.
Istana Maziah
This architecture building was built in 1897 it was said to be built with limestone mixing it with clay, coarse salt, egg yolk and honey. It seem to be ready for a bake. Today, weddings and royal birthday events are held within this modern and tradition architecture.
Floating Mosque
If you have not found a satisfying picture for your camera, try this one. The reflection from the water of the Ibai River creates an illusion as if the mosque is floating. It is said to be the only one of its kind in Malaysia.
Princess Hill Fort
top for this little hill was a fortress between 1831 and 1876. It was built in 1830 and was named after a Fairy Princess who resided there. If you are looking for a view over the town, on the hill you can catch a spectacular view of the surroundings.
Central Market- Pasar Payang
This is must a visit place for anyone who come to Terengganu. The wide varieties of stuff here are considered the most. You can choose from the best batik to best songket and to the best local dried food to bring home. It is like a big shopping bazzar.
State Museum
This museum is probably one of the biggest in Malaysia. It consists of a Main Museum, a Maritime Museum and fisheries Museum, 4 traditional houses, botanic and herbs garden. Quite a lot to see, there are 11 galleries exhibiting the past and present of Terengganu.
Duyung Island
Right Next to Kuala Terengganu is where this little island situated. Not really for spots activities, this island is uniquely specially for boat builders. If you are lucky, you will get to see a launching of a new boat into sea. The dried and salted fish and crackers are also special here.

In Terengganu, you can have a wide variety to choose from. From head to toe, you can find everything at very reasonable price. I guess for entertainment will be eating supper along the beaches and watching the performance of Malay art dance down at the Cultural Centre.

Talk about sports in Terengganu is never ending. Trekking, camping and hiking at Tasik Kenyir or just to check into one of the luxurious hotels by the lake is almost living on ‘cloud nine’. Snorkeling and diving at nearby Island like vessels is quite an encounter. Even Bamboo Rafting is quite popular among the locals in the rivers.
MELAKA
The Historical City
Melaka, which is also known as Malacca, is the second smallest state in Malaysia. Throughout its long past, this 1650 Kilometers land is a rich center of historical remains bringing the oldest times of humanity to light.
As early as 1396, Melaka was founded by Parameswara a young Hindu prince who fled from Sumatra who was name Raja Iskandar Shah after married a princess from Indonesia. Soon during his leadership, Melaka became an important place for trading in its port for merchants from China, India and Europe. Melaka like some of the states, has also gone through the period of the Portuguese, Dutch, English and the World War 2 too. As a results, the interaction between the East and West was today you could see around you, whereby the Chinese and the locals joined in marriage and gradually adopted local culture.
Interesting historical characters and buildings have added a lot of colours to the making of Melaka. Today, Melaka is governed by Malaysia under the care of His Excellency Tan Sri Mohd Khalil Yaakob. If you were to walk down the streets, especially near the town square where Christ Church is, the building will bring you stories that can never be told in a day.
Mini Malaysia
Within the park of Air Keroh, Mini Malaysia features the homes of the different 13 states of Malaysia. Built in various different styles and designs, each of them is individually constructed by a master builder. There are also weekly culture performances and games for the children during the weekends.
Butterfly and Reptile and Sanctuary
Not far from Mini Malaysia is the Butterfly and Reptile Sanctuary. The place not only contains about 200 species of butterflies but also crocodiles, snakes, scorpions and many other insects. The best time to visit I guess would be as possible when the butterflies flutter around for their breakfast.
Melaka Traditional House
The well-kept traditional house located near Merlimau Town was built in 1894. The woodcarvings on both the exterior and interior of the house remind you back to the 19th century where houses are mostly constructed in Malay-Chinese artistic style. Built by a Chieftain, the traditional house is still standing strongly today.
Christ Church
Built in 1753, the Christ Church located in the Dutch Square in Bandar Hilir was almost handmade. The nave was carved from a tree trunk and pews made from hands were some 200 years ago. The ceiling beam constructed without any joints on this Dutch Church is definitely one of the reasons why so many visitors come here. Other interesting things include the Brass Bible, the Last Supper picture on tiles and the Armenian script on the church’s floor.
Tanjung Bidara
The beach in front of the resorts along Tanjung Bidara is considered a popular hangout among the locals. Many come here for food while enjoying the beautiful coastline form the sceneric sea. Some of the resorts here offer very good facilities like spa retreat where you can relax from the busy city life.
Hang Tuah’s Well
Another monument of well located in Kampung Duyung is the birthplace of the great admiral, Hang Tuah. He was a prominent figure during the 15th century and had brought great help to Sultan Mansur during the attacked of the Siamese and Acehnese fleets. He was the youngest man to be knight at his time. It is said that his spirit is still dwelling in the form of a white crocodile. Visit also Hang Tuah Mausoleum to find out more about him.
Kampung Kling’s Mosque
After going through some reconstructions, the Kampung Kling Mosque is still one of the attractions that tourist never miss. The mosque was built in 1748 and is considered as one of the oldest mosques in the country. The mosque has a three-tier of roof and a minaret that looks like a Pagoda. All these come from the influence of the East and West architectural. There are some other names the locals used to address the Mosque like Kampung Balik Pali Mosque and Kampung Kapur Mosque.
Melaka Town
The town offers visitors many historical sites and the Tourist Information Centre is just right at the corner. The best way to visit the places of interest is to take a trishaw around the place. Maritime Museum and Porta de Santiago are the two attractions you shouldn’t miss.
A Famosa Fortress
The hill from St. Paul is A’Famosa or the Porta De Santiago, the remains of the Portugenese fortress of A’Famosa. The fortress was built by Alfonso d’Albuquerque in 1511 and nearly destroyed by the Dutch after about 150 years. The Dutch named it VOC, which was embossed on top of the gateway while the British had it almost destroyed in the 19th century till Sir Stamford Raffles intervened in 1808. Today, only a small part of the fort, which overlooks the town and the Straits of Malacca, remains.
Baba and Nyonya Heritage Museum
If you ever had a chance to step into this place, you will be amazed by the interesting insights the museum providers. A mixture of the Chinese and Malay culture in the 15th century that turned out to be today Straits Chinese call Baba. Visitors can find priceless heirloom unique and some history of the people of the Straits Chinese.
Cheng Hoon Teng Temple
The oldest Chinese temple in Malaysia is this temple, Cheng Hoon Teng Temple located in Jalan Tekong. It was built in 1646 and decorated with mythological carving figures. The main prayer hall consists of three altars dedicated to the three religions Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. The temple covers an area of about 4,500sq meters and another name for it is the Temple of the Bright Clouds.
The Stadhuys
The history museum at the Dutch Square was construction in 1641. The building is red in colour and is believed to be the oldest Dutch building in the East. You can find Melaka history about the Sultanate and the Portuguese, Dutch and the British, and the past rulers of the state.

Jonker Street
If you are interested in collecting antiques and artifacts, Jonker Street will be the greatest choice. You can find variety of stuff from antique furniture to brass. Most of the item sold are from the Portugese era to the British era, some are even from Chinese Baba due to the mixture influence of Malays and Chinese.
Chinatown
The new Melaka Chinatown is along the eastern bank of the Melaka River. Jalan Kee Ann, Jalan Bunga Raya, Jalan Pasar Baru, Jalan Jawa and Jalan Bendahara are streets filled with Chinese herbs, sundries, clothes, and open-air street bazaar opens from 6pm to 11pm. Not forgetting to taste the famous Chicken rice ball at Jalan Bunga Raya where a wide variety of local cuisine can be found.
Sports Unlimited
There isn’t much to do in Melaka. You can go for fresh water fond fishing near to the Mahkota Medical Center and some water sports offer from the resorts such as A’ Famosa Resort
